Car Seat Embroidery Machine

A car seat embroidery machine is something people often enquire about. People ask us the best choice of embroidery machine, and especially so when it comes to either leather car seat embroidery, or vinyl car seat embroidery.

As an example, a number of our embroidery customers embroider the VW, Jaguar, Land Rover or Aston Martin logos etc. Others embroider various motorbike logos onto custom made leather seats. Boat seat embroidery and motorhome seat embroidery are a few more examples.

Firstly, the question is usually which embroidery machine is best for car seat embroidery, or car seat logo embroidery.
My advice would be one of the Brother PR embroidery machines. There are two multi-needle models, a six needle and a ten needle. Generally speaking you will only need the six needle. Especially if you’re just starting out with custom car seat embroidery.

Both the six and ten needle models will sew a design with more than six or ten colours in it.
Say your client has a car seat logo or design with 8 separate colours in it. The six needle embroidery machine will sew out the first six colours, stop, and show you the remaining colours to thread and then continue. Same rule applies to the ten needle model.
Neither model is limited by the number of its needles.

Why do I suggest the Brother PR models are best for car seat embroidery?

• They both have a free arm for ease of use
• Strong enough to sew through leather or vinyl
• Durable enough to embroider thousands of jobs
• They are much faster than single-needle machines

The free arm on both models makes it far easier to embroider a finished car seat cover. In most cases, car seat covers are embroidered on the headrest. So trying to pull the whole seat cover into position with a single needle machine would be very awkward. Multiply that job a hundred times and you’d give up after the first few.

It may be the case that you make hand made car seat covers from scratch. Again, a number of our existing customers do just that. Seat covers are made to order and to precise measurements. In these cases, only a component piece of the seat cover is embroidered.

Either the headrest area, or at the top of the seat below the headrest is where they embroider a name or logo. This is later sewn together with the various other components to create the whole cover.

Even in these cases, I’d still suggest the Brother PR embroidery machines. They are a far better choice than a single needle model for this particular application.

A Practical Example of Car Seat Embroidery

Hundreds of embroidery businesses, large and small, have bought their machines from Bambers. We also service and repair many more, collecting Brother PR embroidery machines from all over Mainland UK. Wednesday is our regular day for collections and deliveries.

This Wednesday gone, as I write, Steve and I collected a Brother PR680W for service during one of our runs. We supplied the machine a few years ago to a nice company in Shropshire. They focus on creating bespoke seating solutions for campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Leather seat embroidery is one of their specialities.

Leather Car Seat Embroidery Machine in for Service

This leather car seat embroidery machine, in this case a Brother PR655, is being serviced in our workshop. In fact it was one we supplied to a customer in Shropshire a few years ago. Steve and I called out and collected it earlier this week. It is used on a regular basis to embroider names, logos and designs onto leather, vinyl and synthetic seat covers. In this case, the seat covers are custom made from scratch.

After the machine was stripped down and fully serviced, Steve went through a few sew tests. These checks test the tensions and the sewing quality.

So they both require a significant investment. Having said that, these embroidery machines are capable of returning their initial investments and providing a healthy profit.

Each car seat embroidery machine is quite straightforward to operate. And don’t forget, on delivery Steve and I spend teach you how to use the machine. Each model has a number of built-in fonts and a USB socket. So using the control screen you can create names and words. You can also upload embroidery designs using either a memory stick, or a USB cable connected to your desktop or laptop computer.
