This Bernina Needle Clamp Thumbscrew is the replacement type. It is designed to fit all standard Bernina models. The point of the old knurled thumbscrew sometimes breaks. When this happens your needle will keep falling out. So replace the thumbscrew with the new type. It has a larger grip so it’s easier to use.
To illustrate the point – We’ve taken a photo of an older needle clamp thumbscrew. It’s on a Bernina 730 that came into our workshop for a general service. You can see the knurled end. The New Type replaces this older thumbscrew.
